Out of Stores: Explore Our Shipyard Collection
Titanic Foundation are opening up our archives and putting them on display in Titanic Belfast. The free exhibition will be open in the Andrews Gallery from Friday 2nd to Saturday 31st August, and we are encouraging local people to call in and view the exhibition alongside the many international visitors that will be in Belfast during the summer.
Over the years, we have acquired a collection of items relating to the Harland & Wolff shipyard. Many of the items have been donated by former employees and their families, or have joined our collection during our heritage projects, such as the restoration of the H&W Drawing Offices, or the SS Nomadic. We are also grateful to National Museums Northern Ireland and Belfast Harbour Commissioners who have kindly loaned items from their stores to add to this one-off display.
Our collection has everything from a 1912 penny to huge steam cranes! We hold these items in care until they can be displayed and/or are used to inform research and restoration projects. We hope you enjoy exploring our shipyard collection.
Please get in touch If you have items which you would like to donate to the collection, or stories you would like to share.
