Lord Mayor, Nichola Mallon Celebrates WorldHost Hotspot Status with Titanic Quarter Businesses

On Monday 1st September the Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon joined Titanic Quarter businesses at Titanic Belfast to celebrate being awarded Belfast’s Citiy first WorldHost Tourism Hotspot.

The organisations to gain national recognition for their commitment to Customer Service, after being awarded WorldHost Recognised Business status included Titanic Belfast, SS Nomadic, The Dock Café, T13, Cable & Wake, Segway Tours NI, W5, Lagan Boat Company, The Streat at Odyssey, Titanic Tours, Titanic Quarter Limited and Titanic Foundation Limited.

On receiving the recognition for the Quarter, Maeve Curran, Titanic Foundation’s Destination Manager, highlighted: “As a destination we are incredibly proud to have achieved WorldHost Hotspot status. When customers see the WorldHost logo displayed in the TQ businesses, they’ll know that we have made a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for them. Not only does this generate a positive buzz about the service we offer, but it helps to promote Titanic Quarter as a friendly World class tourist destination.”

She added: “The celebrations also tie in nicely to mark the re-launch of the Discovery Point at Titanic Belfast, with over 600,000 visitors a year to Titanic Belfast the Point will provide motivational and inspiring information, encouraging visitors to explore more of Titanic Quarter attractions, Belfast City & Greater Belfast and of Northern Ireland.

Carolyn Boyd, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Industry Development Manager, said, “The WorldHost Tourism Hotspot accolade is a very well-deserved achievement for all the hugely successful businesses at Titanic Quarter and is testament to their collective commitment to increase levels of customer service.  I am delighted that through the WorldHost programme a whole new momentum in customer service has gathered within the tourism sector which is providing not just a great environment, but also creating the right platform for quality visitor experiences, recommendations, repeat business and continued growth.”

Lord Mayor, Nichola Mallon highlighted, “Belfast City Council is delighted to see attractions and businesses all across the city getting behind our aspiration, supported by the ERDF-funded Destination Belfast programme, to be a WorldHost Recognised City Destination and show that we are a city committed to excellence in service to both our citizens and our visitors alike.  The Discovery Point, along with all the companies who have gained WorldHost recognition in the Titanic Quarter, will ensure that a visit to this part of Belfast will be a wonderful experience for our visitors.”

The WorldHost programme is being rolled out in Northern Ireland by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board in partnership with sector skills council, People 1st, and the Department for Employment and Learning to help businesses gain a competitive edge, and build Northern Ireland’s reputation as a first-class visitor destination.

WorldHost Recognised Destination status is awarded to towns and cities where 25% of businesses have reached WorldHost Recognised Business status – that means they have trained 50% or more of their front line staff using any of the WorldHost training programmes and signed a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
