Queen’s Birthday Honours 2016: Chair of Titanic Foundation, Awarded OBE for Services to Tourism
Congratulations to our Chair, Nicky Dunn, who has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in recognition of her services to the tourism industry.
Nicky joined Titanic Foundation as a Trustee in 2010 and has been Chair of our board since 2013. Since then we’ve gone from strength to strength from overseeing the development of Titanic Belfast, a £76 million visitor attraction, to securing £5million from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Heritage Enterprise Scheme for the restoration of the former Harland & Wolff Drawing Offices & Headquarters Building as a heritage centre & boutique hotel. Last year we took ownership of SS Nomadic to ensure the future sustainability of this 105 year old ship, the last White Star Line Ship in the world.
On receiving this accolade, Nicky highlighted “this is a huge honour and I’m delighted to have played my part in growing tourism in Northern Ireland, previously as Chief Executive of the Odyssey Arena and now as Chair of Titanic Foundation and a board member of the Lyric Theatre. It’s been a real privilege to work on these iconic projects and with the superb teams behind them. Receiving an OBE is recognition not just for my contribution but for all those I’ve worked alongside over the last 16 years”.
Nicky is also a board member of London Legacy Development Corporation, E20 (Olympic) Stadium and Chairs Netball world cup 2019. She runs her consultancy company IMD Group from London.
